Fetish

This past weekend brought the movie release of Twilight. I had picked up the book Twilight in Hawaii and finished it just in time for the movie. I learned that the ladies from relief society were going to make a girls night out event for those who wanted to go see the movie. I told Eddie that's what was happening and that if I had finished my book in time I would like to go with them. Eddie ten tells me that he would like to go see it with me. I said, "really? it's a chick flick." He said "does it have vampires?" I said "yeah, but its a love story, a high school first love type love story." Eddie said, "if its got vampires, I'll go with you to see it." I'm thinking great that will be fun!
So Morgan is flying in on Thursday night and her flight is scheduled to land at 10:20 pm in LAX. I start to think that maybe Eddie and I should go to the midnight showing. Eddie is all for it, he loves midnight showings of movies. I finish work at 8:00 pm and I'm hanging out until its time to go to the airport and pick up Morgan. I get a call from Morgan. She is at the airport in Salt Lake and has just been notified that her flight is about an hour delayed. I figure that's not going to work with the midnight showing of the movie. But I get online to check the movie times and the midnight showing is SOLD OUT and so is the 12:10 am showing! :(
I go and pick up Morgan resigned to seeing the movie on Friday. Morgan's flight is an hour late but at least she had a whole row of seats to herself to stretch out on. We get back to Ventura around midnight. And I can tell she is getting sick, she didn't want to admit it, but she knew it too.
Friday morning I wake up and I am checking movie times and I am ready to go! Morgan is sick in bed and doesn't want to get up. Eddie rarely works on Friday, but guess what, he had to work this Friday. He wants to run a few errands before going to the office,so he doesn't have time to go and I can't get Jake to go with me to save my life. So now I'm hanging out and frustrated because I only have Friday to see Twilight, Saturday I was going to be at the temple all day with the youth for baptisms. Show time after show time keep passing away. Now I'm getting grumpy. I could have gone with the ladies from church, but NO I decided to go with Eddie and now he is at work!
Morgan drags herself out of bed around 3:00 and I load her up on Advil and Cold~ Eeze. Around 5:00 she starts feeling better. I convince her to go to the movie with me. (She isn't a twilight fan) We go and buy tickets and grab some dinner, then wait in line in the lobby for an hour before they let us in the theatre. Eddie finished with work around 7:30 pm and met us at the theatre.
Amazing, I totally got my way! I was so frustrated and thought I was going to have to wait a week to see this movie. I never get that into movies. But I think it was something that I just got fixated on and everything was working against me being able to go so I was determined to make it happen.
I did enjoy the movie, yes there are things I would have liked to have seen done better or differently. I really enjoyed the first book and I just started the second book. I hope that now the movie studios realize there is a huge following and that the quality and effects will improve in the movies to come. I heard that the movie brought in $70.6 million, the largest opening weekend for a female director. And I also heard that New Moon is in production and scheduled for release in 2010!

I love it when things work out even when you don't think they will.

I saw this movie last night. Most of my friends have read the books, I have not. I didn't want to just because of the hype. My friends really wanted to know what I thought about the movie since I hadn't read the book. I liked it. It was entertaining, but sometimes seemed really cheesy. I can't decide if i want to read the books now. I wish they would have talked more about how they all became vampires and the folk lore and stuff. my friends said they talk about that more in book.

what did Eddie and Morgan think about it?

That's Morgan, she doesn't want to read the book because its too hyped up. But she was willing to see the movie, I think she will read the book now next summer when she isn't in school.
I think you were smart to see the movie first. I always want to have read the book before I see a movie. But I think the book was so fresh in my mind that I was mini directing in my head instead of just enjoying the movie. Same thing with Harry Potter you get all consumed with how the movie goes vs. how the book goes. But the book is really good. You would like it. I was a little anti too and thought it was just mormon women all consumed, until I got to Hawaii and the girls at the resort who worked in the spa and the girls in the store were all into Twilight. I finished the book I brought and thought ok Twilight it is. There were ladies out by the pool reading it, it was everywhere. Yesterday one of my patients asked me what I was reading right now and I told him New Moon and he said "Oh I'm reading Twilight. He looks like late 20s and not gay, I was so surprised.

OH Eddie and Morgan liked it. Eddie was laughing at all the girls giggling and applauding. He said hmm this is looks like a cult movie. He loves cult followed movies. He was hoping for more vampire action.

I read all the books. And then Jarrod read all the books too! The story is fun, the writing could be better but isn't bad. We are hoping to sneak off to the movie today. I have to find a babysitter...

I know how you feel. The FEW times I want to do something Damon ends up having to work late! I feel the same about the movie. I read the book so long ago I want to read it again now!

I give in. I think I'm going to read them. Haha, all you ladies looked at me like I was crazy for not being into it at our last enrichment meeting.

I really hope they do a better job on the second one too. They definitely have enough money to do it. I dragged Eli to it with my sisters and their spouses, Eli was cracking jokes the whole time I couldn't stop laughing. I still loved the books.
